Orchestral Concert: Reflections on Fate and Nature

WAGNER Tristan & Isolde: Prelude & Liebestod

BRAHMS Schicksalslied

WAGNER Siegfried Act II: Forest Murmurs

SIBELIUS Symphony No. 3

This stirring programme, under the baton of Jonathan Berman, explores man’s place in the natural and spiritual world. Wagner’s Prelude and Liebestod, starring soprano Rachel Nicholls, delves into love, longing, and destiny. Brahms’ Schicksalslied (Song of Fate), performed with the Festival Chorus, offers a powerful meditation on mortal suffering and divine serenity. Forest Murmurs conjures the voice of nature, before we experience the Nordic landscapes and uplifting affirmation for humanity in Sibelius’ third symphony.
