A sparkling programme of British chamber works opens with Howells’ richly expressive Rhapsodic Quintet for clarinet and strings, before a stroll through London’s pleasure gardens in Zoë Martlew’s In the Park, performed by tenor Mark Padmore with Richard Peirson at the piano. The evening concludes with Elgar’s Piano Quintet, a late-Romantic masterpiece flowing with emotional intensity.
There will be a pre-concert talk with Zoë Martlew in the Hall at 6.30pm. Free of charge. All welcome.
