Conducted by Olivia Clarke, the festival launches with Doreen Carwithen’s Bishop’s Rock, a dramatic seascape that captures the power and isolation of the famous lighthouse on the Isles of Scilly. Daniel Pailthorpe is the soloist in Cecile Chaminade’s entrancing Flute Concertino. The concert culminates in Vaughan Williams’ epic Sea Symphony, featuring world-renowned soloists Rachel Nicholls and Roderick Williams, with the Festival Chorus in full tidal flow.
